Transition
Pupil’s joining our Academy will follow an individualised transition programme. This will ensure their needs are carefully considered. Transition plans will be co-produced with parents and professionals. Our transition policy will take into consideration the following statements;
- Pupils may join us from mainstream settings, specialist SEND services, area special schools, community centres or home.
- Pupils may have been in full time, restricted or partial education environments.
- Pupils may have been in receipt of full or part time TA support and smaller group or individual workings.
At the Academy we recognise that one size does not fit all, this ethos will be followed when planning the pupil’s transition.
An example would be;
A phased entry;
- MBA staff member or FSW visiting the pupil in their educational environment and/or carry out some teaching sessions.
- Pupil will take part in social stories and view photos of MBA before visiting.
- Pupil to visit MBA with family or familiar educational staff or other relevant professional
- Staggered or phased entry over time which meets need.
- Opportunities to experience all aspects of the school day.
- Where appropriate a current TA can attend sessions at MBA to settle the child before phasing over to MBA staff
- When appropriate the pupil will attend full time.
