Friends of MBA (FOMBA)
Who are we – Friends of Martin Bacon Academy – FoMBA are a small group of parents who want to:
- Help organise fun inclusive activities to raise funds for the school. Funds can be used to support our children’s growth and development through school trips, class projects or larger school developments that require more financial support.
- Help bring parents together and offer support as we do not get chance to meet each other often.
- To engage with parents for their views of the support they might like to be available and share fundraising ideas – we are here to listen and help.
Offer information on other support available in different areas around Cambridgeshire, to help children and young people meet others in their area and meet other parents of SEND children and young people.

Sofia Godinho – Chair– I’m Elena’s Mum, who is currently in Magpies class. I joined FoMBA, not only to help raise funds for our school to make our children’s experience even more rewarding, but also to meet other parents. We are a small group, but have so much fun when we get together brainstorming about new fundraising ideas, and sharing experiences our unique children bring to our lives.
Holly Burton – Secretary – My son, Scott s a member of Parrots and started at MBA back in 2022. Supporting the schools fundraising activities has been really rewarding and it has been great opportunity to get to know other parents and share our experiences. I look forward to meeting more families at school events over the coming year.
Amanda Silvester – Treasurer– My son Isaac had been at MBA for 5 years and was in Kestrels until June this year when he left for college to study Horse Care. I joined FoMBA because I wanted to help raise funds for the school as it had only just opened, but also to meet other parents. I enjoy being part of FoMBA and helping the school, children and parents to come together.
Dawn Dilley – Governor Representative for MBA – Mum of Scarlet. Excited to be part of FOMBA to get to know other parents and families. Really want to help create opportunities for the wonderful children and people at MBA. Supported so much by the school and want to give a little back.

Christmas Hamper Raffle for the Christmas Fayre
Some parents may remember the Hampers we put together a couple of years ago, which are a lovely colourful gift before Christmas.
We ask parents if they are able to kindly send in a gift – this might be food, drink, beauty, accessory, etc for a hamper in their allocated class colour, these are then put together by our team and you have the opportunity to buy raffle tickets to win one of the hampers in the draw before we break for the Christmas holidays.

FoMBA Online Cuppa
We are planning to organise online cuppa events for parents that would like to meet other parents from the school. We aim to hold one in the daytime, and one in the evening, in order to offer different times for all to have a chance to be involved.
We will share information we have on activities, or have a theme for the meeting to help start the conversation. These are a very informal meetings and just a way to connect with other parents at the school.
Come along and bring a cuppa, you don’t have to say anything if you do not wish to, and can just listen, whatever you feel on the day is great, we’d just like to say hi.

FoMBA WhatsApp group
Here’s in another way you can connect with other parents. Each class has been allocated each own channel for parents to engage in an informal way, ask questions or arrange their own social events.

We would like to engage with all parents to hear from you on the type of things FoMBA could possibly support with, for you and your child at MBA. This short survey will only take 4 minutes to complete and will help us offer you the information or support you would like to see.

Easy Fundraising page
Please see the information on the easy fundraising page which helps us raise funds, just by you going through this page first before logging on to buy items from your favourite shops. It doesn’t cost you anything, but just means we are able to raise some extra funds from the website.
