Karen Chapman
Academy Council Member
I have 35 years’ experience as a carer for my son, daughter and mother-in-law, a strong sense of the social impact, inclusion and understand the importance of good schooling provision for all.
I have been actively involved for more than two decades with the movement towards Personalisation, Personal Centred Planning, The Whole family approach, Self-Directed Support Budget and Inclusion, both nationally and in the local health and social care arena. Presently I am Vice Chair for the Carers Partnership Board and previously I was Vice Chair for St Elizabeth’s Parents Staff Association, Vice Chair for Cambridge Parents Forum, a Member of the Cambridgeshire Parents Consultation group and a Parent representative on the HIMP committee.
I have 43 years’ experience in both the commercial and third sector organisation specialising in Finance and HR. In my personal life I have had to complete and submit many statutory assessments. I support voluntarily local small community charities with their events, finances, been a treasurer and am presently a non-exec Finance Director for a small CIC. Last year I embarked on a HE course at ARU in Charity and Social Enterprise Management.
